1. Prepare Materials and Tools

Extension rod dimensions:
Without the sliding ruler: 330mm (length) × 220mm (width)
With the sliding ruler: 315mm (length) × 220mm (width)
Engraving area: 300mm (length) × 100mm (width)
Red cardstock (used as an example), cut to 300mm × 100mm

2. Connect the Engraver and the Extension Rod

Make sure the laser module is mounted with the height extension risers and attached to the extension rod.
Insert the yellow Type-C elbow cable into the laser engraver, and plug the other end (black Type-C cable) into the extension rod.
Open LightBurn and go to the Console tab.
Click "Switch Slide Extension" to check the connection status.
If the connection is successful, the console will display the message shown below (refer to diagram).

3. Focus the Laser

Align the extension rod properly.
Press the red dot button on the laser unit to activate the dual-dot red focus light.
Adjust the height of the laser head up or down until the two red dots overlap — this means the laser is correctly focused.

4. Adjust the Extension Rod Position

Push the extension rod to the rear end of the base.
In LightBurn, go to the "Move" tab.
Under Power, click Fire to emit a low-power blue laser beam.
Enter coordinates 0,0 in the “Move to Position” field and click Go to move the laser to the origin.
Change the Distance to 300mm, and click Move Y+.
Make sure the extension rod is properly aligned and that the 300mm range is within the machine’s supported frame without exceeding limits (refer to diagram).

5. Stroke Test

Run a test engraving job to ensure that the laser moves smoothly and without obstruction within the 300mm range.
If the stroke seems off, slightly adjust the position of the extension rod until it reaches the exact 300mm range.

6. Start Engraving

Once everything is set up and verified:
Go to the Laser tab in LightBurn.
Click Frame to preview the engraving area.
After confirming the position, click Start to begin engraving using the extension rod setup (refer to image).
