Replacing the Motor on Ray5 Mini/MiniS

The X-axis and Y-axis motors are essential components that drive precise movement during engraving. If the motor becomes faulty, you may experience issues such as inaccurate positioning, skipped steps, or complete axis failure.

This guide explains how to safely replace the motor on the Ray5 mini and miniS series. The overall procedure is similar for both X-axis and Y-axis motors, with slight structural differences between models.

1. Disconnect Components

  • Disconnect the X/Y-axis motor cables
  • Disconnect the laser module cable

2. Remove the Laser Module

  • Loosen the M3×14 screws or L-shaped hand-tight screws
  • Remove the laser module

  • X-axis motor connector → faces left
  • Y-axis motor connector → faces backward

Ray5 miniS

  • X-axis motor connector → faces left
  • Y-axis motor connector → faces upward
  • Ensure the timing belt is properly seated on the coupler
  • Tighten all screws securely

7. Reinstall Slider Components

  • Reinstall the slider plastic part or metal slider onto the X-axis bracket
  • Ensure proper alignment and secure fastening

8. Reassemble (Ray5 miniS only)

  • Reinstall the left and right acrylic covers
  • Reconnect the door switch cable
