ABSTRACT
This article takes the RAY5 10W laser engraving machine as an example to systematically introduce the whole process of laser engraving white porcelain. First, in view of the problem that the white porcelain surface is difficult to absorb energy due to reflection, a pre-treatment method of pasting color paper is proposed: cutting, soaking, pasting and drying; then, the engraving parameters are set in LightBurn (speed 1000 mm/min, power 100%, constant output on), and the pattern is engraved; finally, the excess color paper is softened by soaking in water and scraped off to achieve a clear white porcelain engraving effect.
Ceramics is a general term for pottery and porcelain. Pottery and porcelain have different textures and properties. Pottery is made of clay with high viscosity and strong plasticity as the main raw material. It is opaque, has fine pores and weak water absorption, and has a turbid sound when struck. Porcelain is made of clay, feldspar and quartz. It is translucent, does not absorb water, is corrosion-resistant, has a hard and tight body, and has a crisp sound when knocked. Take Ray5 10W as an example to engrave white porcelain. The specific operation is as follows:
1) Material preparation:
White porcelain cannot retain energy on the surface for engraving due to reflection, so it is necessary to paste color paper on the white porcelain before engraving:
i. Cut the color paper according to the size of the required engraving pattern
ii. Soak the cut color paper in water
iii. Paste the soaked color paper on the white porcelain and let it dry
Conclusion
By pasting color paper on the surface of white porcelain and reasonably adjusting the engraving parameters, the RAY5 10W laser engraving machine can accurately present detailed patterns on white porcelain vessels. The pretreatment step improves the energy absorption efficiency, and the small piece cleaning step after engraving ensures that the finished product is clean and beautiful. It is recommended that users fine-tune the color paper thickness and engraving speed according to the shape of the porcelain and the complexity of the pattern to obtain the best engraving quality.
