  • Remove the lens cover before starting framing or engraving

2. Laser Not Enabled

When using LightBurn, click the top menu button and enable the “Laser on when framing” option, then click OK.

1. Remove the L-shaped Support Bracket

Begin by removing the L-shaped support bracket from the machine.

  • Turn the hand-tightened nut counterclockwise
  • Carefully detach and remove the L-shaped support bracket

This step provides access to the internal structure of the column.

2. Remove the Column Housing

Next, remove the column housing to access the internal components.

  • Use a hex wrench to remove the 12 screws located on both the inner and outer sides of the column
  • Remove the positioning plate and the column cover
  • Carefully take out the column housing

This exposes the internal control board assembly.

 

3. Disconnect and Remove the Column Control Board

Proceed to remove the faulty column control board.

  • Disconnect the cables on both sides of the column control board
  • Use a hex wrench to remove the 4 screws securing the board
  • Carefully lift out the control board

Take care to note cable positions for reassembly.

4. Remove the Rear Screws

  • Remove the 2 screws located at the back of the column control board
  • Fully detach the control board from the structure

At this point, the faulty board can be completely removed.

5. Install the New Column Control Board

  • Place the new column control board into the original position
  • Secure it using the appropriate screws
  • Reconnect all cables exactly as they were before

Ensure all connections are firm and correctly aligned.

6. Reassemble the Column Housing

  • Reinstall the column housing
  • Place back the positioning plate and column cover in order
  • Use a hex wrench to tighten all screws securely

Proper reassembly ensures structural stability.

7. Reinstall the L-shaped Support Bracket

  • Reattach the L-shaped support bracket
  • Tighten the hand-tightened nut to secure it in place

Below are the most common causes and step-by-step solutions to help you quickly diagnose and fix the issue:

1. Wrong Type-C Cable

Ensure you are using a data cable, not a charging-only cable.

Fix:

  • Connect the cable to the third port on the engraver
  • Try a different USB data cable if needed

2. Cannot Find CH340 / GH430 Driver

If the driver is not installed, the computer cannot detect the machine.

Windows:

  • Right-click This PC → Manage → Device Manager
  • Expand Ports (COM & LPT)
  • Find the CH340 port
  • Select this COM port in LightBurn under “(Choose)”

macOS:

  • Go to About This Mac → System Report → USB
  • Look for USB Serial
  • In LightBurn, select the port (e.g. cu.wchusbserial…)

3. Port Already in Use

The CH340 port may be occupied by other software.

Fix:

  • Close programs like serial tools, Cura, etc.
  • Reconnect the machine and try again

4. Configuration File Not Imported or Damaged

LaserGRBL:

  • Right-click the bottom area → Import Custom Buttons
  • Import LaserNano.zbn file
  • Confirm to add Nano, Slide, Rotary functions

LightBurn:

  • Click Devices → Import
  • Select Nano Pro.lbdev
  • Finish setup to load the device and macros

5. Incorrect Baud Rate

An incorrect baud rate will prevent connection.

Fix:

  • Set baud rate to 961200
  • LaserGRBL: Select COM port + set 961200

  • Lightburn: Click the button, select this port from the COM port list, and set

961200 baud rate.

How to Calibrate and Align the Nano Duo Camera in LightBurn

The Nano Duo comes equipped with a built-in camera that helps users precisely locate materials and designs before engraving.
In LightBurn, if you wish to use the camera feature, it must first be calibrated and aligned. The steps are as follows:

1. Focusing the Nano Duo

Before performing camera calibration and alignment, make sure to focus the Nano Duo properly.
Failure to do so may cause discrepancies between the designed and actual engraving sizes — resulting in engraved patterns appearing larger or smaller than intended.

2. Camera Calibration

Open LightBurn and select "Calibrate Camera Lens" in laser tools.

Selecting "USB Camera" and "Standard Lens" in the interface, click "Next".

Place the calibration card in the camera view as shown, turn off "Honeycomb check enable", clik "Capture" button, and when "Next" lights up, proceed to the next step. Repeat the same operation multiple times.

Note: A 90-degree rotation of the image is normal and does not affect camera calibration. Position the calibration card according to the diagram; the orientation of the device does not matter.

Until the interface as shown and click "Align Camera", and the lens calibration is completed.

3. Camera alignment

At the end of section 2, click "Align Camera" ,select "USB Camera", and click "Next".

In addition, you can also enter through "Calibrate Camera Alignment" in lasertools.

Place the wooden board, adjust the focus, set the engraving parameters, click "Frame" to confirm the engraving range is within the wooden board, and then click Engraving, and click "Next" after engraving.

Note: When carving thick materials like wood, refocusing is required.

Click the "Capture Image" button to capture. When the image is clear in the camera view, click "Next". If it is not clear, recapture it or return to the previous step and engraving it again.

Pan and zoom to find the four corner marks, and double-click in the center of each one as precisely as you can. It is important that you mark the corners in their numbered order(1, 2, 3, 4).

When you have marked all four corners, click "Next" to continue.
